Join us at Wrestlefest Toronto's Open Mat , Toronto's first and only LGBT+ oriented, kink-friendly open mat event! Whether you're an experienced grappler or brand new and curious, this welcoming event is open to all levels. Come roll with fellow grapplers in a fun, respectful, and low-pressure environment.
WHAT TO EXPECT
- Casual open mat for wrestling and grappling
- Open to all experience levels — no partner needed
- Kink-friendly and LGBT+ inclusive
- Consent is required for all matches
- Fun, social, and supportive vibe
Note: While the majority of participants are gay and bi men, this event is open to all orientations and gender identities. Discrimination of any kind will not be tolerated.
SETUP
- Mats will be set up on the floor for grappling
- A space will be available to put your bags, however this willl be unsuperivsed. The organizers and Flash On Church are not responsible for any lost, damanged, or stolen items.
- A water station will be provided
- No alcohol in the mat area. Anyone perceived to be under the influence of alcohol or other substances that would prevent a safety hazard to themselves and other participants may be removed from the event without refund.
HOW IT WORKS
- Approach someone and ask if they would like to grapple. Agree on match terms and limits.
- Most matches end with a submisssion (tap out), but some prefer to wrestle to remove an artice of clothing or over a toy/stuffed animal
- Matches are one-on-one and start from the knees
- No standing takedowns or throws
- Each match lasts up to 10 minutes. Please vacate the mat after 10 minutes to ensure everyone gets a chance to grapple.
- Tap early and clearly — tap by tapping on the mat, your partner's body, and/or verbally by saying "stop"
WHAT TO BRING
- We reccomend wearing gym clothes, singlets, or wrestling gear
- Avoid baggy clothes or anything with zippers, buttons, or sharp objects
- Bring your own towel, water bottle, and gear
- Remove all jewelry and piercings before stepping on the mat
- No outside shoes on the mats
SAFETY & ETIQUETTE
- Shower beforehand, keep nails trimmed, and tie back long hair
- Respect others’ boundaries, limits, and experience levels
- Newcomers are welcome — experienced wrestlers will be there to help
- Remove outside shoes before stepping onto the ats
- Discrimination or unsafe behavior will not be tolerated

Note: all attendees will be required to review and sign liability waivers at the door before participating in the open mat event. A copy of the waiver text can be found at the bottom of the Code of Conduct page HERE. Note that the organizers reserve the right to modify the waiver at any time until the event date.
By attending the event, you agree to the adere to the Code of Conduct. Any behaviour that does not adhere to the Code of Conduct may result in your removal from the event and banning from future events without refund.

Gym clothes, singlets, speedos — whatever feels good and allows for you to move freely. No zippers, buttons, piercings, jewelry, clothing with sharp objects, or baggy clothing.
Yes. Please shower before, trim your nails, remove jewelry, and keep shoes off the mats.
Yes, there’s a bag area, but it’s unsupervised. Bring only what you need and store valuables at your own risk. The organizers and Flash on Church is not responsible for any lost, damaged, or stolen items.
Start from the knees, no standing throws. No twisting fingers or small joints. Tap early. Always ask and agree on limits first.
Yes, erotic wrestling will be permitted so long as it is agreed to by both wrestlers. Consent can be withdrawn at any time. Remember to always respect limits. Note that full nudity on the mats is not permitted.
Tickets are refundable up to 7 days before the event. Refunds are processed by EventBrite. The EventBrite fee portion of the ticket is non-refundable. Should you have any issues, please reach out to the EventBrite customer support team.
