Did your grandma ever cook you borscht? Did she teach you how to eat cherry perogies the right way — with sour cream and a big smile?
If these memories warm your heart or spark your curiosity, join us for the Second Annual Ukrainian Festival in New Westminster!
📍 Saturday, September 27th
📍 501 4th Ave, New Westminster
We come together to celebrate the music, food, and spirit of Ukraine. On a mission that goes deeply to our roots — to inspire, delight, and connect us across generations.
The story of Ukrainians in Canada is one of resilience, community, and cultural pride. Over the past 130 years, five distinct waves of immigration have brought Ukrainians to Canadian soil — each wave shaped by different historical moments and challenges.
From the early pioneers of the late 1800s who farmed the Prairies, to post-war refugees rebuilding their lives, and to recent arrivals fleeing conflict and seeking safety — Ukrainian-Canadians have contributed immensely to the cultural, economic, and civic life of Canada.
At our festival, you’ll explore this journey through a special exhibit — celebrating the achievements, traditions, and local stories of Ukrainians in New Westminster and across British Columbia. Discover the people and organizations that built churches, founded cultural centers, taught dance and language, and inspired future generations.
What to Expect:
Live Music & Performances — traditional and modern Ukrainian artists
Authentic Ukrainian Cuisine — from perogies to pampushky
Exhibition — a unique, educational showcase tracing the journey of Ukrainian immigration to Canada
And so much more. Follow us on social for updates!
