STOPPING WARS: THE UNTIDY PATH TO CEASEFIRE

Join us Wednesday, May 21 at Parkdale United Church for a topical and informative talk by James Smith.
Why are some wars are so difficult to stop? James Smith has examined the problems encountered in attempting to achieve cease-fires and what happens when obstacles to a cease-fire cannot be overcome and will share some of his key findings.

James Smith holds a Bachelor of Arts in Peace and War Studies from the University of Calgary and a PhD in War Studies from Kings College London. He is a Commonwealth Scholar and has taught in the Department of Peace Studies at the University of Bradford England, as well as at the University of Calgary.
Though written three decades ago, his book - Stopping Wars - is still used in International Relations courses today, as well as at the US Army War College.
Now retired, he spends most of his time on top of mountains or looking for the next one.

We hope to see you on the evening of the 21st.
