About this event
- Event lasts 3 hours
- Ages 19+
For those without moms, Mother’s Day can feel like a day to get through rather than a day to celebrate. But instead of sitting it out, we’re reclaiming it—by gathering, sharing, and honouring the women who shaped us.
Welcome to Motherless Day. A gathering for those without mothers, in support of the Centre for Addiction & Mental Health (CAMH).
Join us for a meaningful event at KOU Studios filled with connection, creativity, and community. We’ll share stories over food & drinks, create memory collages with SAD Magazine, set intentions with Carolyn Ann Budgell, build floral bouquets, and more. Most importantly, we’ll spend the day with people who truly get it—without needing to say a word (though let’s be honest, we’ll have plenty to say)!
Programming includes:
*Memory Collaging with SAD Magazine
*Breathwork and intention setting by Carolyn Ann Budgell
*On-site live poetry by Ars Poetica
*Guided journaling & card-writing
*Bouquet-building by Flower House Studios
*The best of pastries, focaccia, smoothies and beverages by local vendors
...and so much more!
PS - just like how grief doesn’t end when the day does, neither does this experience. You’ll take home a tote filled with meaningful goodies that are small, intentional reminders that our moms' love lives on, as does our grief. Think: Free Jaybird pilates class, a Formula Fig facial and Saje Wellness discounts!
Frequently asked questions
Motherless Day is for anyone who finds Mother’s Day a little (or a lot) complicated. Whether your mom is gone or you’re estranged, this is a space to honour, remember, and spend the day with people who truly get it—no forced smiles, no awkward small talk, just real connection.
The founders of Parentless Club know first-hand how important it is to have mental health support through grief. CAMH offers crucial services for those coping with loss and mental health challenges, and donations help them continue this vital work.
Motherless Day is presented by The Parentless Club, a community for people who have lost a parent, created by people who are right there with you. Follow us on socials at @parentlessclub or send us an email at [email protected].
We know grief is complicated, and support matters. You’re welcome to bring a guest if it helps you feel comfortable, as long as they have a ticket. Since space is limited, we want to ensure those who need Motherless Day most have a place to be. Please keep it to +1!
Think cozy meets celebratory. We’ll be collaging, so maybe skip the all-white outfit, but this is also a special day—so wear whatever makes you feel good, whether that’s jeans and a tee or something that feels a little more like an occasion.
We have some great partners making the day delicious—all with GF and Vegan dietary restrictions kept in mind. Think: fresh bread from Mimi's Focaccia, coffee from Honest To Pete, smoothies from HEAL, Pastries from local bakeries, non-alc sparkling beverages, and more!
We want to respect everyone's privacy rights, so please let us know if you don't feel comfortable having your photo captured. By purchasing a ticket you're open to having your photo shared on The Parentless Club's social and our partner socials.
